Our Farm

Our farm is located in Kayonza district, home of the picturesque Akagera National Park. The farm encompasses over 700 hectares of land, with water access from the nearby Lake Ihema for irrigation. We have been lucky enough to obtain the right to use the water, and are frequently audited for our water management practices, in compliance with national regulations. We have been working with our partners, including IDH The Sustainable Trade Initiative, to ensure our farming practices meet the requirements of international and specifically European market demands. As a result of our efforts, we expect to obtain GLOBALG.A.P. certification by February 2024.

ProDev - Akagera

We employ mechanization in our farm, which is equipped with all basic infrastructures. We use different irrigation systems for our farming, including center pivot irrigation, sprinkler irrigation system and drip irrigation. These are controlled forms of irrigation that prevent soil erosion.

Due to our proximity to the Akagera National Park and our commitment to environmental protection, we have stringent measures in place regarding disposal of waste, including agro-chemicals and fertilizers, our waste disposal area is isolated and fenced from human contact and arable soil contamination, due to this professionalism our disposal area is certified. Moreover, in order to ensure that our produce stays safe and doesn’t attract any unwanted guests–amongst those being rhinos, hippos, elephants and hyenas–our farm is also surrounded by an electric fence.
