About Us

ProDev Kayonza is a producer of agricultural products in Rwanda, established in 2006. We produce a variety of fresh produce including french beans, passion fruit, (dried) chilies and marigold flowers, for which we have a newly-constructed, large processing plant located in our farm.

Through our local and export business, we strive to create employment opportunities for Rwanda’s youth and promote gender equality by advocating for women to work in managerial roles.

The Kayonza region, where we operate, has high social significance. The area is inhabited by numerous Rwandans who were displaced from neighboring Tanzania following a 2013 presidential directive requiring all undocumented migrants in the country’s Kagera region to leave or be forcibly removed by the security forces.

One of the key challenges faced by displaced populations was the absence of stable livelihoods. Without employment, individuals and families were struggling to meet basic needs such as food, shelter, and healthcare.

Amidst this struggle, our farm emerged as a beacon of hope; not only providing employment but also fostering a sense of community and purpose among them, while contributing to long-term socio-economic stability. Initially, ProDev Kayonza alleviated over 500 families from poverty. Today, we employ more than 1,000 workers to assist with our farming operations. Understanding the essential role of our farm workers, we maintain high social standards throughout our operations. Some of our measures include guaranteeing that all our workers are provided with adequate personal protective equipment (PPE), meals at the farm, adequate working time, access to toilets and mineral water. In order to break the barriers to entry for women, we also provide secure lactation rooms. In addition, all our workers are provided with health insurance.

Mission

Our mission is to foster economic growth in Rwanda through our export business, establishing the country as an East African hub for quality produce.

Vision

Our vision is to become one of the most established exporters of quality produce in the region, doing so in a way that benefits people and the planet.
